To all old friends
Dear friends,
Whose futures I only ever got to imagine
But never see play out.
Know that I think of you
At least I try to, to the best of my ability.
I think of the you I imagined
And where they would be now.
I think of the wonderful friends
I imagine you must have made.
I think of the vibrant bars
I imagine you must visit each night.
I think of the lovely family
I imagine you must have by now.
When I am at my lowest
particularly lonely
I imagine calling you up
and you happen to be in town
and we really should get coffee
and it really is a wonder
how well we'll still get along now
after all these years
after all these years we still share the same
hopes and fears
after all these years and over all this distance
you still feel near
now
Whose futures I only ever got to imagine
But never see play out.
Know that I think of you
At least I try to, to the best of my ability.
I think of the you I imagined
And where they would be now.
I think of the wonderful friends
I imagine you must have made.
I think of the vibrant bars
I imagine you must visit each night.
I think of the lovely family
I imagine you must have by now.
When I am at my lowest
particularly lonely
I imagine calling you up
and you happen to be in town
and we really should get coffee
and it really is a wonder
how well we'll still get along now
after all these years
after all these years we still share the same
hopes and fears
after all these years and over all this distance
you still feel near
now
